Elementary Class Assignment:

Paper Saint - Mixed Media

Students are asked to choose a Saint to learn about. With the use of the reference materials found in the 'Symbolism in Art' section, student are asked to choose 2 symbols commonly found in artworks of their Saint. Student are asked to bring this information to class along with a picture of their Saint.

3rd/4th Grades:

Cast Saint - Mixed Media

Students are asked to choose a Saint to learn about. With the use of the reference materials found in the 'Symbolism in Art' section, student are asked to choose 3 symbols commonly found in artworks of their Saint. Student are asked to bring this information to class along with a picture of their Saint.

Middle School Class Assignment:

5th Grade:

Tile "Santo" Painting
Students are asked to read and become familiar with the referenced material provided in the "Retablo" section.

5th Grade Student are to come prepared to class:

Picture of chosen Saint for Art Study
A single sheet of paper noting the 3 symbols commonly found within artwork of the chosen Saint
Inclusion of either the Saint's prayer or the biblical meaning of their name

Retablo & "Santo" Painting
Wood or Plexiglas

Students are asked to read and become familiar with the referenced material provided in the "Retablo" section.

6th-8th Grade Student are to come prepared to class:

Picture of chosen Saint for Art Study
A single sheet of paper highlight a Saint with a brief explanation of who they are and what common symbols are found in art renderings of their Saint. Students must mention at least three 3 symbols as well as note the Saint's patronage and prayer.
